Of course you do. He was the guy that shouted “you lie” during the presidents speech to a joint session of congress. But Wilson isn’t just another guy, he’s a representative of South Carolina, which is what makes his “you lie” outburst even more ridiculous. In 2003, Wilson voted to pass a bill (Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act) that extended prescription drug coverage for illegal immigrants. Some would even say he had the deciding vote because it was a 216-215 vote. Wilson blamed his outburst on high emotions, but seeing as he voted to pass this bill in 2003, what makes him so intolerant to universal health care? Is it that a democrat is in office? Is it because our president is African American? Is it just simply that Mr. Wilson and his whole family receive free medical support from insurance companies because they want him to do what he can to abolish this bill. I’ll let you decide.

Well is it? The quick answer is yes. Harvard has released a study that states the “[l]ack of health insurance is associated with as many as 44789 deaths per year in the United States.” It’s not just a few people here or there that only don’t receive coverage and suffer minor consequences, the consequences are in many cases, death. These deaths generally come from the inability to receive needed medical care which some just cannot afford. I believe it’s the Declaration of Independence that states we have “certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” With our current health insurance system, they are taking away some people’s right to life. This is unacceptable!

Bill O’Reilly, possibly the one of the most recognized and celebrated person in right wing media is backing the public option with health care reform. O’Reilly said: “I want that, I want… not personally for me… but for working Americans to have an option, that if they don’t like their health insurance, if it’s too expensive, they can’t afford it, if the government can cobble together a cheaper insurance policy that gives the same benefits; I see that as a plus for the folks.”
But don’t take my word for it, here is the video:

I am a conservative.
This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy.I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility.
After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level
determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.
After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal’s inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its
valuables thanks to the local police department. And then I log on to the internet — which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration — and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can’t do anything right.
Basically UniversalGuy is saying that a major argument the republicans are making is that the government can’t do anything right and this is why socialism in medicine is bad… but the truth is, the government takes part in every aspect in our lives even though we may not know it. The government is founded on helping the citizens, and that is what it is attempting to do right now. We need to look up the facts. Yes taxes will raise for the wealthy, but they are not raising an incredible amount. In fact, you’ll be saving money if you decide to use the public option even though your taxes are higher. It’s a win-win situation.

Analysts and economists say that oil could drop below $50 a barrel, and even under $40. However, they say it can rise just as fast. The oil prices have been on such a deep decline because of evidence that the deepening recession would have a severe impact on demand, reducing the use of oil by industries and individuals alike.
It is different in all areas around the country, but I just recently saw the price of gas drop below $2 a gallon. I’m sure everyone is liking this low price of gas, but we need to remember to keep using as little as possible. If the demand jumps up again, the price per barrel can easily rise.

Today we celebrate Veterans Day. Originally proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson as Armistice Day, we celebrate the the soldiers that have fought and given their lives for our freedom. The soldiers, past and present, have fought bravely and honorably to keep our country free and we owe them our gratitude. Be sure today to talk to any veteran you may know and thank them for their service and duty they paid to this wonderful country.

As his presidency nears its end, a reflective President Bush suggested Tuesday he regrets some of his more blunt statements on the war on terror over the last eight years, and said he wishes he had not spoken in front of a “Mission Accomplished” banner only a month after U.S. troops in Iraq were deployed
I regret saying some things I shouldn’t have said.
Bush told CNN’s Heidi Collins when asked to reflect on his regrets over his two terms as president.
Like ‘dead or alive’ and ‘Bring ‘em on.’ My wife reminded me that, hey, as President of the United States, be careful what you say. I am proud to be the commander in chief of people who are so selfless and so courageous that they would volunteer to serve our country in a time of war, I’m proud when I see people feed the hungry. I’m proud when I’m in Africa and see volunteers helping those citizens dying of HIV/AIDS. I remember the conversation I had with my predecessor Bill Clinton. As a matter of fact, [I] called him yesterday and said, ‘Bill, I’m getting ready to meet with the new president and I remember how gracious you were to me. I hope I can be as gracious to President-elect Obama as you were to me.’

President elect Barack Obama and his advisers are crafting plans to close the Guantanamo Bay prison and prosecute terrorism suspects in the U.S. Bush had recently said that this would be “easier said than done.” Many of the 250 Guantanamo detainees are cleared for release, but the Bush administration has not able been to find a country willing to take them.
Obama foreign policy adviser Denis McDonough said the president-elect wants Guantanamo closed, but no decision has been made “about how and where to try the detainees, and there is no process in place to make that decision until his national security and legal teams are assembled.”
